It’s that time of year when we get to scare the living daylights out of ourselves – just for fun!
While the kids may be counting the sleeps until they get to fill their faces with sweets on Monday the 31st, there’ll be plenty of spooktacular goings on for grown ups over the weekend too, many of them of the cinematic kind.
The spookiness starts at the Common Room, with a family-friendly screening of The Addams Family in the morning. But if that’s not chilling enough for you then head back later that evening to let Jack Nicholson scare your socks off in The Shining. Or head to the city’s castle, which will be showing the head turning horror film The Exorcist. (Hopefully they won’t be screening it in the dungeons – that could may be too much for some folks to handle).
Not to be outdone, Tyneside Cinema are putting on an all-nighter of spine chilling films on Saturday 29th, including cult classics across the decades – from Dracula to the Blair Witch Project. Oh yes and “Here’s Johnny”, as The Shining makes another appearance. You can pick and choose which films you want to watch, with prices starting at £3, or see them all for just £20.
The Everyman cinema has their very own Horror Season of films, which includes the family classic Ghostbusters (the original of course) and some more edge of the seat stuff, like the new release Halloween Ends starring Jamie Lee Curtis.
Which rounds off this season’s spooky film screenings in Newcastle. It’s all frightfully entertaining!
